Day Two and Three.

We left Houston on Sunday, July 18th at around 6:30 pm (CST) to fly to Dubai.  We spend all day Monday flying and arrived in Dubai at around 6:00 pm on Monday, July 19th (Dubai time).

I learned several things while flying for 15 straight hours:
-Airplane air is extremely dry
-I don’t sleep on airplanes
-The middle seat is the least desirable
-Every airplane should have a tv for each seat with your choice of over 100 movies, tv shows, and games (Emirates rocks!)
-Every airplane should have a GPS map showing you where you are in the world (again, Emirates rocks!)
-You really get to know the people sitting next to you (it was great that I was with our team…it was a good bonding time)
-Every picture from 30,000 feet looks pretty much the same…save your memory card space!
-My feet swell on flights longer than a couple of hours
-Those fancy little neck pillows are an absolute must…too bad I didn’t have one!
-The flight attendants do not serve nearly enough water
-I’m not the only one who sleeps with my mouth wide open
-A 15 hour flight can really cure one of the love of flying (okay, not quite…the take-off and landings are still really fun)

Here are some shots of our travels…

Our team’s luggage prior to checking into our Emirates flight in Houston.  Don’t worry, that wasn’t all for the trip…we had to take the rest of the Livingston’s household items to them.  They are newer Aid Sudan missionaries living in Kampala, and this was the last of the items they needed moved over there!
