Not that I’m counting down or anything, but I am leaving in 31 DAYS!!!! I feel both so ready and completely unprepared, and I’m also feeling a LOT of pressure to finish up things around home: classes, work, sewing projects, bills, etc. I’ll get it done, though, because I really do work best under pressure with deadlines looming. I’m strange like that.
This week has been one for the books, definitely one about turning things over to God! First, I received an email Tuesday morning from Continental airlines that my flight home from Houston in August had been changed. Blaise did not receive that email. I spent most of the morning wondering if we could get one of our flights switched that we could be back on the same flight, and I was worried that my carefully planned house of cards was going to collapse. I finally was able to log in and check both of our flights Tuesday afternoon, and Blaise’s had been changed, too, we just never received an email about it. We are still on the same flight and even still in seats right next to each other. Yay!
Yesterday, my grandma called me to ask if I had heard anything about the potential government shut down and if we both have our passports. Umm….NO!! I immediately went to several news websites and read about it (Blaise and I do not watch TV, so we don’t ever see the news), and I saw that, indeed, a shut down would mean that they would stop processing passport applications. I have mine, obviously, but we are still waiting on Blaise’s. Now, we have time, as he doesn’t leave until July; however, some reports have said that this could last until September. That would be the worst case scenario, but that would mean that a.) Blaise does not get to go to Sudan and b.) we’ve waisted a lot of money on plane tickets!
In other news, I sewed four new skirts over the weekend. One went terribly wrong, but the others are keepers. I am only taking two of the new ones into Sudan, and the other one I will keep in Uganda. I have two more to sew, and they will be for Uganda, also. I’ll post pictures when I’m completely finished.
Have a great Thursday!
