Ahhhhh, Christmas time is RIGHT HERE and our family is crazy excited to put our tree up, blast the Christmas music, and eat all of the Christmas treats! Okay, who am I kidding, we’ve had Christmas music playing since November 1st. (BUT we did wait to put our tree up, which was considerable restraint!) And as we launch into the Christmas season this year, I wanted to share a list of our 25 favorite Christmas picture books.
These are books that we’ve read and loved as a family over the last few years (a few of them were newer additions last year). In our house, we keep all of our Christmas books in a basket under the tree, and read them aloud for Morning Basket, Bedtime Basket, and anytime in between.
However, I know a lot of families will unwrap and read one book per day throughout December, which I’ve always thought was such a neat idea. I’ve just never quite been ahead of the game enough to get them all wrapped in time. 🙂
We’re definitely a read-aloud family. But I feel like it’s especially important during the holiday season. It tends to be so busy and we’re trying to do ALL THE THINGS. Snuggling up on the couch by the light of the Christmas tree and reading is one of our very favorite ways to stay connected during what can otherwise be a hectic time of year.
