Before I ever came to Africa I had heard that the sky is so magnificent here, and it’s true. There’s virtually no air pollution to mute the colors of the sunset and no lights to wash out the brilliance of the stars. Some days I’m so busy getting dinner prepared that I don’t realize the sun is setting, and then I walk out of my front door and the sky takes my breath away. I think there’s no way I could ever truly capture the beauty that is here in Nasir, but here’s what my iPhone has managed to get over these last several weeks…
It’s really hard to see it, but there’s the sliver of the moon, and then up and to the left a little further (at the very top of the picture) is Venus. We see it every single night, shining brightest of all…
This storm didn’t end up being very bad, but it made for an ominous sky!
A couple of weeks ago we got to see rainbows on two separate days, and the second time it was a double rainbow. This opened up the opportunity for Christina to share the story of Noah and the flood with our language teacher and Nyabuol, one of our workers.
This one is my favorite so far. Absolutely stunning!
