At this exact moment, 1:34pm (local time), we should have already arrived in Nasir, South Sudan and begun settling into our brand new home. However, we are currently sitting at a restaurant in Kampala (to use the wifi, which we ran out of at home, but didn’t want to renew since we thought we’d be leaving today).
You see, Nasir is remote. The airstrip is dirt. It’s the rainy season. And in the last two years, two MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) planes have gotten stuck in that mud (both incidents cost them both time and money). Nasir’s airstrip is a sticky trap for planes during the rainy season. We found out on Sunday that our arrival in Nasir had been moved to “tentative,” but then it continued to rain yesterday and they cancelled our flight.
We are obviously disappointed…we were completely packed and ready to go. Our ministry is there, so we desire to be there, too. However, we are also trusting in God’s timing and His plan. There is clearly a reason why we are still in Kampala, so we are seeking Him and asking how we can be faithful with this time He has given us.
We would request that you pray with us that we can go in later in the week–we just need the rain to hold off for the next 4 days!
