It should not surprise you to know that I have already begun a new checklist for this summer…and I have two packing lists (one for Uganda, one for Sudan). Though I feel like I have the packing lists mostly under control, my to do lists this year look very different!
This year, I already have my passport, most of my supplies (I just have to buy food and meds), and all of my immunizations. I’m in good shape as far as obtaining necessary goods. So what do I need to do, you ask?
Here goes…
-Get Hep A booster shot
-Get anti-malarial meds for 2 Sudan trips
-Buy plane tickets to/from Houston
-Write at least a couple weeks worth of teacher training lesson plans
-Buy a couple more camera batteries
-Assemble my prayer team (pretty much same as last year)
-Stock up on food, sunscreen, and bug cream
-Learn my Bible stories (Creation of the World, First Sin and Judgement, Noah and the Flood, and Abram and the Covenant)
-Tidy up everything here (job, school, etc.)
-GO!!
It’s crazy to me to think that in only SIXTY DAYS I will be boarding a flight to Houston and beginning Amazing Journey to Africa II. Of course, the Amazing Journey I never really ended…it just morphed into a second phase of a learning/living/sharing/LOVING experience!
One of the most frequent emotions I feel as I prepare for this summer is dumbfounded. Strange, I know, but truly just dumbfounded that God has chosen me, that God loves me, and that God has been working some incredible miracles in and around me. I feel in complete awe of His work and how amazing it is! I think about how much I have changed since last year and it makes me so excited to see what He has in store for me (and Blaise) this year!
