Saturday, Kerrie and I headed out to Bunga to visit with Daniel and his family.  Daniel is our Sudanese translator that records our radio programming in African English and Dinka Rek.  Daniel and his wife, Angelina are from Aweil, Sudan, but they have been in Kampala for a couple of years.

Daniel attends university here in Kampala, and Agelina is taking English classes at the Hope Center.  Daniel comes to the house almost every day to record with Kerry H, so I have had ample opportunities to chat with him about many things regarding Sudan.  He has also been tremendously helpful in filling me in on some nuances of public education in Sudan that I did not get a chance to observe.  Saturday was the first time I had met Angelina, and she is so sweet…and tall…and very beautiful.  Her English is not incredibly great yet, but she does understand quite a bit.  She spoke with us as much as she could, and sometimes she told Daniel what she wanted to say in Dinka, and then he would translate for us.

It was an incredible time, and I am so thankful for the Sudanese fellowship! Here are some suras from our visit…

Next Sunday will be another Sudanese church service with Daniel, Angelina, and the children.  I am very excited, and I am so blessed to have spent an afternoon with Daniel’s very sweet family!
