The first time I typed in the title of this blog post, “Drive by Shooting | Kampala,” I thought better of it. Better add the word photo or else the family might have a panic attack! No worries…I was the shooter and my weapon was a Canon camera!
I’m sure you’ve just about gathered that Kampala is a CRAZY city with CRAZY traffic. If you have, then you are correct! In addition to the traffic, though, there are other crazy things about the city. One thing is that to the untrained eye (which mine still is), there is a scant difference between what Ugandans refer to as slums and the rest of the city, with the exception of some shopping centers and resorts. One afternoon, I wanted to document a normal, everyday drive from one part of town to the other. Kerrie and I had to run an errand from our house (Livingstons’) and the Hendersons’ house…that is, from Muyenga to Makindye, with Kabalagala and Nsambya in between.
These were the sights along the way, which are completely commonplace and absolutely unspecial…to Ugandans…
Just posting these pictures makes me miss the craziness of Kampala!!
