One of my favorite places to shop in Kampala was at Friday Market.  It gets its name because it’s only on Fridays, and it’s this super cool, super disorganized open-air market (similar to our flea markets…only less organized).  The best part, of course, is that because the vendors do not have to pay to rent a shop, the prices are extraordinarily low…and you can even negotiate for lower prices!! After Kerrie and I had been going for some weeks, the vendors started to recognize us and then they knew we weren’t just tourists passing through…they would welcome us into their stalls by saying, “Welcome back, I give you good price.”  And they did! We also made some friends…Jennifer was one of the best who even called Kerrie to find out if she would be shopping at her stall that day! Love it!

Here’s Friday Market when it was on Kibuli Road (they moved it while I was in Nasir)…

Some of my favorite Friday Market purchases include baskets, necklaces, banana leaf soccer balls, and scarves!
