Good morning!
I am here in Houston for the first leg of my journey. I flew in yesterday afternoon and stayed with an amazing couple, Jennifer and Rusty. I really had a great time last night talking about photography (yep, she’s also starting a business), missions, and about everything else under the sun! They took me to dinner last night downtown Houston at a local pizza place…best comfort food in the world!
Today I will be meeting my team leader at church and then spending the afternoon with he and the team. We depart for Dubai around 6:30 this evening. I am excited and nervous. I’m hoping that my focus on being homesick, Blaisesick, and Callisick starts to fade. Leaving Indy was really, really hard yesterday.
I don’t want this post to be mopy, however, so I’ll share some funny things I saw yesterday. First, upon landing in Houston I saw a tumbleweed rolling across the Tarmac. Could it have been a clump of grass blowing around? Not in my version of the story! =) Then, at the airport there was a big sign that said, “Buckle Up, Texas.” under the sign was a little drawing of a person in a seat with a seat belt AND a cowboy hat on! Finally, while we were enjoying pizza, a police officer came in to enjoy some pizza, and what did he have on? A straw cowboy hat!
Wow! See, I’m already this excited and I haven’t even left the US yet!!
Get home soon!! I need to see pictures!
