OH MY GOSH!!! I cannot believe that in one week I will be boarding a plane (actually, from right now at 11:15pm I will be already in Houston) and beginning my journey to Sudan!
I have shared so liberally my feelings in the last few months: excited, scared, overwhelmed, sad, and so on. Now that I am really within 7 days of leaving, I don’t know what I am feeling! I guess I am in disbelief that I am actually do this. It is no small trip, and it will be both challenging and rewarding to the extreme.
To date, we have completed our team trainings and I have purchased all of the supplies that I will need for the entirety of the trip, save for my snack foods. I even went to Starbucks and purchased their new VIA instant coffee so that I can enjoy a little taste of home while I’m in Africa! Crazy? I think not. =)
So, this week will be all about praying like mad…I mean, God led me into this, so I am now leaning on Him to carry me through! I will also be getting a packet put together for Blaise that has all of the emergency contact info, my flight numbers, the bills he needs to pay, etc. I will also be packing my backpack up so that I have everything ready to go…you should see my packing list! I’m thinking there’s no possible way that everything is under 33 pounds…but we’ll see. I also have to finish one last skirt. I thought I was done, but there’s this other super cute fabric that I want to see made into a skirt. I hope that there is a girl (or several) in Nasir who loves the colors and fabrics that I have picked out, and who gets to really wear and enjoy these skirts! They have most certainly been a labor of love!
Alrighty, I am going to try to go to bed. Sleep has been difficult in the last couple of weeks. I have managed to sleep well the last couple of nights…but please be praying for our team that we are able to arrive in Houston well-rested and ready to go!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……………..
