Good Evening!
You might know by now that Sudan ended a 22-year civil war in 2005, and has been rebuilding the country since that time. Next month, beginning on January 9th, Southern Sudanese will be given the opportunity to vote in a referendum for southern independence. This election represents a critical time in Sudan’s tumultuous history; a time when Southern Sudanese finally get to choose their future and, hopefully, experience long-lasting peace.
You know that I love the Sudanese and I want nothing more than to see Sudan experience peace that they have barely known in the last 50 years. So, Blaise and I are organizing a 24/7 prayer marathon to span the 168 hours of the election. Our goal is that every single hour of the election period will be covered in prayer. The marathon will begin on January 8th at 4:00 pm and will continue 24 hours per day until January 15th at 4:00 pm.
We are praying that Sudan experiences peace before, during, and after the election…especially because there are a lot of Northern Sudanese who do not wish to see the south secede. We are also praying that the leaders be given wisdom and courage to do what’s right by their people, that missionaries and non-profits continue to receive support and reach those in need, and that the Sudanese themselves find healing and peace for the terrors they have experienced.
We ask that you join us in our Praying for Peace Marathon by committing one hour (or more if you wish) of your time next month to praying for our beautiful Sudanese brothers and sisters in Christ.

I am very excited to see all of you sign up to pray for the Sudanese! Even if we never see all of the ways that He is working there, we know that God is working powerfully in Sudan.
Love,
Cass
