I wasn’t sure what to title this post. I considered “The Winds of Change” and then I thought maybe “Expect the Unexpected”, instead I went with “States to Sudan, Nimule to Nasir”. Catchy?
I know, I’m a nerd.
Okay, so I do have news for you all. I am super excited!! I finally got an email from Andrew, mission trip coordinator at Aid Sudan, with our team information and trip plans. I will be going with two other women and three men. I am particularly thrilled because we will be going with Jengmer, a Sudanese man and former ‘lost boy’ who is part of Aid Sudan’s Moses Project. This is very thrilling!
So, along with some information about our team members, I also learned that we will no longer be going to Nimule. We will be going to Nasir, Sudan instead. At first, I was crestfallen because I had researched Nimule and I was very excited to spend time with the Dinka tribe. Then I realized, I am still going to Sudan and I am positive that I will love the Nuer culture and people just as much! I also realized that God has some great plans for us there. My team will be a part of mentoring, teacher training, and studying for and administering final exams at the school. We will also be there for graduation!! How cool is that?
It looks like our team phone conferences will begin next Thursday evening, and I am very excited to talk to the other people I will be traveling with and find out more about them.
I cannot believe that it is May already and in two months I will be gearing up to travel halfway around the world!
